Racing Events


MONDAY NIGHT RACING - Every 2nd Monday

Racing will commence at 7.00pm. You must register prior to 6.45pm as names will be entered into the computer at this time. Unfortunately names cannot be added once the data entry is complete.
The centre will remain open to 6.30pm for practice racing and any shop sales that you may require.
Entry fee for the night is $15.00.
Pizza is available from the local Pizza Hut.
Drinks and snacks may be purchased on the night from our vending machine.

As you know, racing commences at 7pm sharp with the shop operating extended hours for those last minute upgrades and stickers!

Night A: 
Race 1 – Class A: - Slot.it Open Class, OR Class B: Slot.it Group C - National Rules (NEW for 2017)
Race 2 – Class A: - Plafit Mini Z Cheetah Motor Class, OR Class B - Plafit Mini Z - National/APC Rules (NEW for 2017)

Night B: 
Race 1 – Scalextric GT - Box Standard (NEW for 2017)

'Class 1A – Slot.it Open Class (Non Magnet, Modified) 

Eligible Cars: Any Current Slot.It Car (Classic, Group C, LMP and DTM)
Motor: Open - Any Slot.it Motor. Any Slot.It Lead Wire Allowed.
Gearing: Open – Any Slot.it Gearing.
Motor Pod: Open – Any Slot.it Inline, Sidewinder or Anglewinder Motor Pod Configuration
Suspension: Open – Slot.it Spring or Magnetic Suspension.
Axles & Bearings: Open – Any Slot.it Axle & Bearings. Front Axle Height Adjustment Allowed.
Spacers: Open – Any Spacer Allowed
Wheels: Front: Open – Any Slot.it Wheel, Rear: Slot.it Sponge Wheels Only. Wheels must be inside the guard.
Tyres: Front: Open – Any Slot.it Tyre, Rear: Slot.it Sponge Tyres Only. Tyre Truing and Gluing Allowed.

Weight: Maximum Car weight including magnet downforce from motor – 105g

Class 2A – Plafit Mini Z (1300/1700 Chassis, Cheetah Motor Class)

Eligible Body’s: Any Kyosho 1/27 Scale Mini Z Hard Plastic GT Body’s
Chassis: Plafit Excel #1300 or Super24 #1700 Chassis Allowed (No #1700G or SLP Versions)
Chassis Parts: All Plafit #1300 and #1700 chassis system parts allowed (except #1700G and SLP Versions). No Chassis parts mixing between #1300 & #1700 chassis system parts. Chassis springs, spacers and/or additional screws may be substituted, added or removed. No Chassis modifications other than within its design limits. Chassis blue-printing is allowed. No excessive sanding for weight reduction.
Body Mounts: Plafit Flat or Side Body Mounts Allowed.
Motor: Plafit Cheetah 2 or 4 Motor (Cheetah 80% of a 16D) Any Lead Wire Allowed.
Gearing: Open – Any Plafit, Scaleauto or JK Gears.
Tyres & Rims: Open – Any Plafit or Scaleauto Foam Tyres, Wheels must be inside the guard.
Guide/Braid: Open – Any Plafit, Scaleauto or MRRC Guide. Any Braid Allowed. Guide washers allowed.
Axle: Any Plafit or Scaleauto 3mm Axles. Independent Front End Allowed.
Bearings: Any Plafit 3 x 6mm oilite axle bushings or 3 x 6mm axle ball bearings.
Weight: Minimum Weight Limit 155g. Additional weight may be added as long as it is placed on top of the chassis.

Chassis: Plafit Super24 #1700 Chassis (No #1700G or SLP Versions) and Plafit4 #1900 (not #1900S) Allowed.
Chassis Parts: All Plafit #1700 and #1900 chassis system parts allowed (except #1700G and SLP Versions). No Chassis parts mixing between #1700 & #1900 chassis system parts allowed. Wheel Inserts: Are required, but won’t be enforced.
Guide/Braid: Open – Any Plafit, Scaleauto or MRRC Guide. Any Braid Allowed. Guide Washers Allowed.
Axle: Any Plafit or Scaleauto 3mm Solid Axles.
Bearings: Any Plafit 3 x 6mm oilite axle bushings or 3 x 6mm axle ball bearings.
Weight: Minimum Weight Limit 160g. Additional weight may be added as long as it is placed on top of the chassis.
Ground Clearance: 1.0mm under the entire chassis including gear.
Magnet: None – Non Magnet

Class 3 – SCX Handicap (Box Standard - Magnet/Non Magnet Class)

Eligible Cars: Any Current Original Unmodified SCX Car (SCX Pro, Le Mans Prototype, Formula 1 and Indycars not allowed)
Motor: Original Unmodified SCX Motor (RK42 for GT/Touring Cars, All wheel drive motors for Rally/Classis Cars). No extra leads or soldering of motor in.
Gearing: Original Unmodified SCX Gearing.
Motor Configuration/Pod: Original Unmodified Inline Motor Pod Configuration. All wheel drive cars must run in the original configuration as new out of the box.
Axles & Bearings: Original Unmodified SCX Axle and Bearings
Spacers: None – Not Allowed
Wheels: Original Unmodified Front and Rear SCX Wheels
Tyres: Original Unmodified Front and Rear SCX Tyres. Tyre Truing Allowed for non Park-Ferme Drivers (See List Below)
Guide/Braid: Original Unmodified SCX Guide and Braid Only
Body: Original Unmodified SCX Body Allowed. Rear Wing & Windows must be in place at start of race. No Light sanding or trimming of body allowed
Interior: Original Unmodified SCX Interior.
Chassis: Original Unmodified SCX Chassis. No sanding or trimming allowed.
Screws: Original Unmodified SCX Screws Only. All Screws must be used.
Weight: None – Not Allowed
Ground Clearance: Day Light must be seen
Magnet: Yes – standard SCX magnet mounting only – magnet may be raised/lowered. Once a driver places in the top 3 in a SCX round – that driver loses their magnet for the remainder of the season.
Parc ferme: The drivers listed below are subject to parc ferme rules. Their cars must remain at Armchair Racer at all times. Cars will be released for practice 1 hour before racing starts on the evening of the SCX category – no other times. Cars will be returned to parc ferme conditions at the end of the race evening. Cars may be replaced at any time during the season, but once they are replaced they are ineligible for further racing. The replacement car becomes subject to parc ferme rules.

Class 4 – Scalextric GT3 (Box Standard - Magnet Class)

Eligible Cars: Any Current Original Unmodified Scalextric GT3 Car Allowed. No Road Cars or High Resistant Cars Allowed. (Refer to eligible car list below)
Motor: Original Unmodified Scalextric 18,000 Mabuchi Motor
Gearing: Original Unmodified Scalextric Gears. 9/27 Inline, 11/36 Sidewinder.
Motor Configuration/Pod: Original Unmodified Motor Pod Configuration. Inline/Sidewinder.
Axles & Bearings: Original Unmodified Scalextric Axle and Bearings
Spacers: None – Not Allowed
Wheels: Original Unmodified Front and Rear Scalextric Wheels
Tyres: Original Unmodified Front and Rear Scalextric Tyres. Tyre Truing allowed for all Non Park-Freme Drivers Only (See list below). Gluing not Allowed
Guide/Braid: Original Unmodified Scalextric Guide and Braid Only
Body: Original Unmodified Scalextric Body Allowed. Rear Wing & Windows must be in place at start of race. No Light sanding or trimming of body allowed
Interior: Original Unmodified Scalextric Interior.
Chassis: Original Unmodified Scalextric Chassis. No sanding or trimming allowed.
Screws: Original Unmodified Scalextric Screws Only. All Screws must be used.
Weight: Maximum Car weight including magnet downforce – 350g
Ground Clearance: Day Light must be seen
Magnet: Yes – 1 Magnet Only. Allowed to be placed within any of the designated Scalextric magnet holder positions on chassis only. Non Park Ferme Drivers (see list below) may swap out original magnet for stronger one.
Parc ferme: The drivers listed below are subject to parc ferme rules. Their cars must remain at Armchair Racer at all times. Cars will be released for practice 1 hour before racing starts on the evening of the Scalextric category – no other times. Cars will be returned to parc ferme conditions at the end of the race evening. Cars may be replaced at any time during the season, but once they are replaced they are ineligible for further racing. The race committee.
The committee are tasked with ensuring that all aspects of racing are :-

  • Fair and reasonable
  • Technically viable
  • Communicated appropriately

And of course it is the responsibility of the committee to actually run the race nights.
Another role of the committee is to be the reference point for questions and suggestions. If racers want to know “can I use this old motor?”, or if they want to suggest a change to a particular racing rule, then the committee is tasked with providing the answer(s).
The 5 members are John VD, John A, Fardin H , Jason B, and Ian R.

Rules (and changes) for 2017
The racing will start with the Plafit and Slot.It classes.
Your cars from last year are legal for this year so you can just turn up with them and go.
You also have the opportunity to try the alternate options for these two classes :-
- For Plafit, you can choose to run the newer 1900 chassis with a Fox motor,
- For Slot.It, you can choose to run the less extreme Class B.

2017 GENERAL RULES

* All cars must be available to be scrutinized prior to racing to ensure they conform to the class rules .
* The car you start the race with should be the car you use for the whole 8 heats (breakdowns excepted).
* If any screws/parts come off during racing that affects the results of other racers, the offender will be penalized 20 laps (accidents excepted).
* Cars must start the race night with all wings, and windows securely attached.
* The race committee will control and run all aspects of the race night.

2017 SLOT.IT -NON MAGNET class.
* This class is raced at 12vdc
* Any Slot.it model car with slot it interiors , may be Lexan .
* Slot.it motor configuration - Angle winder/ Side winder / Inline.
* Slot.it motor - any Slot.it motor.
* Only Slot.it parts may be used and must be used in the manner they were designed. 
* PCR (and any third party) components are not regarded as Slot.It components and are therefore not permitted.
* Any Slot.it tyre - tyre’s may be glued/trued. Where present, the Slot.it logo must be visible from the outside .
* Car must start the race night with all wings, interiors and window securely attached in their original locations .
* Weight may be added.
* The maximum total car weight including any magnet down force from the motor = 105 grams.
* At the completion of the race the top 3 cars will be weighed to ensure that they do not exceed the 105 gram maximum
weight limit. If a car exceeds the weight limit that car will be disqualified and all following racers will be promoted by one position.

2017 CLASS 2 NON MAGNET - PLAFIT

* This class is raced at 12vdc
* Chassis: 1700 only.
* Motor: Cheetah 80% of a 16D or Fox IV 60% of a 16D
* Tyres & Rims: Plafit or Scale Auto, foam or rubber. Tyres and rims must be within the guards. Front min 5mm wide.
* Guide: Plafit , Scale Auto or MRRC
* Axles: Plafit or Scale Auto, independent front allowed.
* Bearings: Any type.
* Wiring: Any.
* Springs: Plafit.
* Lights: May be added.
* Height: Chassis and body must not drag on or touch the track .
* Gearing: Any Plafit , Scale Auto or JK gears .
* Weight: Minimum 155g as tested on a magnet marshal. Weight may be added in any location on the chassis or inside the body.
* Body: Must be a Kyosho Mini Z and must be in race livery.

2017 CLASS 3 MAGNET / NON MAGNET - HOST CLASS
* No Cars Required - Just turn up with (or without) a hand controller.
* These cars will be provided by Armchair Racing committee and are maintained by John Van Dyk.
* This Class is raced at 12 to 13.5 vdc.
* This will be run as a 2-man team endurance event. Teams will be chosen by your overall race ranking - first place with last place and so on. Alternatively, you may race with a novice friend. If there are an odd number of racers in attendance, the middle “ team” will comprise of just one person. We may also run nights as just individuals.

2017 CLASS 4 MAGNET - CARRERA DTM 1/32 Class
* This class is raced at 12vdc.
* This is an out of the box class.
* It is permitted to plug the motor in directly to the guide plug. However, all components must remain in place.
* Tyres may not be glued or trued as they true up naturally with a little running.
* You may loosen the body screw only.
* You must start the race night with all parts attached as it came out of the box.
* You must run the large guide.
* You must use any 2013 / 14 / 15 / 16  DTM standard or digital cars .

2017 CLASS 5 MAGNET / NON MAGNET - SCX 1/32 Class
* This class is raced at 12vdc.
* This is an out of the box class .
* Motor must be the new RK42 with new motor pod – RX motors are specifically banned with the only exception being as follows :-
* If running an all-wheel drive car, the original motor must be used and the all-wheel drive must remain functioning. 
* You must use the original way the motor is fitted - no extra leads or soldering the motor in.
* You may true the original SCX tyres .
* You may loosen body screws .
* You can use any SCX car except for LMP, F1, IndyCar, or SCX Pro .  Car must have the original interior fitted.
* You can set the magnet to any height you wish.
* If you place in the top 3 per SCX round you must remove you magnet and leave it out for the following rounds.
