HISTORY:

Ferrari 330 TRI was especially designed by Scuderia to participate at in the 1962 24 hour Le Mans in the new a?oprototypea?? category. The new body shell a?oSpidera?? is designed by Fantuzzi.
Few things remain from the previous version. The roll bar of the car forms the wing including 2 vertical supports behind the driver. Numerous new air inlets type-156 F1 "Sharknose" are added. From front view, we can only notice the additional opening above which extends on a large part of the width of the car. On the engine cover, one new air intake appears on each side of the driving crankcase which stayed in the same place. The big transparent deflector is moved forward and reduced. The driving crankcase is also profiled to improve the penetration in the air. The side air inlets are filled by grids, 2 big air inlets after car doors are added. The former small side air intakes are enlarged and partially filled. The front hood has a pair of additional lights and blinkers are added on the front wings. A new side rear-view mirror red shell comes in the middle of the windscreen. The inside of the cockpit is papered with a brown short carpet. The long escapes have been kept.
The starting grid of this 30th edition of Le Mans is ordered according to the engines capacity. The competition really takes place after mid-race between Ferrari 330LM TRI and 250 GTO, 246SP and 268SP but the experienced teammates Hill-Gendebien end 5 laps ahead to their competitors. Two other Ferrari end 2nd and 3rd; the GTO #19 of Jean Guichet and Pierre Noblet (3705GT) and #22 of LACon Dernier and Jean Blaton. The victory of the TRI330 marks the last victory in Le Mans with a car with the engine in front.
