COMMENTS
Must have for serious racers |
|
 |
|
|
 |
STEP 1:
After the Magnet Marshal has been
turned on and has stabilized to
"0", place the car on the weighing
platform to measure the overall
weight and magnetic downforce.
|
TBA |
 |
STEP 2:
Tip the car onto its side to
measure the weight of the car plus
the weight of the magnet, but
without the magnet downforce.
|
|
 |
STEP 3:
With the car still on its side, press the
"0" button to enter the scale into
"tare" mode. With the car still on its
side, the scale should read "0".
|
|
 |
STEP 4:
Now place the car back in the normal
position to get a measurement of the
magnetic down-force only. |

So what is the best way to true those blasted out-of-round rims
and tyres most Ready To Run cars come with?
Do you push your slot car from
side to side across sand paper?
Do you disassemble the axle units and use a hand drill, Dremel
or a conventional 1:24 slot tyre truer like the Hudy, Ilpe or
C&M?
Not really working without modifications or compromises, is it?
Not to mention the fact that you cannot remove the wheel of a
modern Scalextric car without damaging the hub.
A new style of tyre truer was needed where both tyres/wheels could
be trued without having to remove the hub from the axle.
Well, there is one tyre truer on the market which is designed
to take the whole axle unit, trueing both wheels at once : The
German made RSM tyre truer
REQUIRES (NOT SUPPLIED)
8 -12 vdc 5A power supply, idealy with variable
voltage.
Note RSM had stopped producing this Tyre
Truer and it is due to be manufactured again in 2008. We choose
not to supply any other tyre truers as this model is the only
tyre truer to accomodate the whole rear axle with the wheels still
fitted - a must for Scalextric cars. |
 |
We have tested this machine using all major 1:32 Ready To Run
car brands and it works likes a gem.
The RSM is designed very well and solid,
standing on four rubber feet, weighing almost 1.5 kg. It comes
with all the necessary parts and spares including a manual in
English.
With the RSM it is also possible to true all kinds of other aftermarket
kit wheels in 1:32 or 1:24 scale with 3/32" or 1/8"
axle diameter.
|
TBA |
 |
Thee
sequence of photos show actual use
with an old Scalextric F1 rear axle assembly.
|
|
 |
As you can see this tyre is anything but round
|
|
 |
Turn the RSM tyre
truer "ON", adjust the axle pivot bar until the tyres
makes contact with abracive surface. Keep adjusting until the desired
result is achieved. |
|
 |
The
finished product, a perfectley trued tyre allowing your slot car
to deliver maxium power to the track. No wheel tramping, just smooth
racing.
