Team Lotus began at Indinapolis in 1963 with Jim Clark finishing 2nd in this race. In the 1964 race, 2 major historical facts were achieved - first, pole position of a rear engined car (driven by Jim Clark) and the last victory of a front engined car (driven by A.J.Foyt). In the 1965 Indy race, the starting grid made up of 33 cars of which only 6 are front engined cars. Jim Clark wins this historical race, the first for a rear engined car, and the first for Ford.

5 versions of the fabulous MASERATI 8 CTF 1939 to 1947

Maserati 8 CTF was present at the 500 miles of Indianapolis from 1939 with the team Boyle Special and the driver Wilbur Shaw.
Wilbur Shaw qualified on the front row, winning the race. Maserati was the first foreign car to win the Indi 500 in 20 years.

In 1940 Wilbur Shaw again qualified on the front row. After 59 laps Shaw took the lead and pulls away to nearly a full lap advantage, when rain started to fall on the back stretch of the circuit, with the caution flag flying, all drivers had to hold their race position which just happened to be behind Shaw, who coasted to one of easiest Indi victories ever.

On the starting grid of the 1940 race, was the blue Maserati #49 driven by the french driver Renè Le Begue who qualified in 31st position, finishing the race in 10th position.

During 1942, 43, 44 & 45 there was no racing at the Indianapolis circuit due to the second world war.

In the 1946 we find on the starting grid a famous italian driver : Gigi Villoresi, who qualified 28th, finishing 7th. Villoresi Maserati was sponsored by Corvorado Filippini.

In 1947 the driver Ted Horn with his Bennet Bros. Maserati 8 CTF started from pole position, finishing the race in 3rd place.
His black and gold Maserati has the same chassis of the 1939 and 1940 Maserati of Wilbur Shaw with some modifications.

	The chassis are made from 0.70mm brass photo engraved . The wheels are turned aluminum with hallbrand resin inserts. Wheel knock-off are made from photo engraved brass as are some other parts. The tyres are produced by Ostorero, in soft rubber and have excellent grip. Slot.it gears and motor - V12 23,000 rpm. Body is pre painted in the original color with water slide decals. The chassis has a removable traction magnet.
