The
new N Ninco digital system allows any brand or category of slot
car to be digitally compatible by simply installing the decoder
chip (no soldering required).
The Digital control
console is the brain of the digital system. It has connections
for 8 controllers and an accessory socket. There are two transformer
inputs, Ninco recommend that a second transformer is used if there
are more than 4 cars racing.
The console can be set to Amateur or Pro mode.
This adjusts the response from the controllers, faster for experienced
drivers and easier for beginners. This function affects all controllers,
so you cannot have drivers with different requirements in the
same race.
There is a selection mode for racing with lights
working on the cars. If you have connected your car lights when
fitting the car chip, this option will select the light function
and all cars with working lights will have them illuminated. Again,
single cars cannot be selected as the option is for all cars or
no cars to have working lights. A car does not have to have lights
fitted to use this option.
There are 7 race modes that can be programmed
by the console. This gives a huge variety, and includes racing
for one person as well as some interesting methods of running
a racing competition. These modes are :
GP (Grand Prix). Can be programmed for race distance
in laps or time. Displays the top speed and personal information
for each driver, including fastest lap.
WR (World Rally). Used as a single rally stage, this mode gives
individual times for up to 8 drivers. Can be programmed by laps
or time. Gives finishing positions plus individual information
for each driver.
FL (Fastest Lap). Used for qualifying-style competitions, gives
personalised information for each driver.
NS (Non Stop). Used for endurance racing, can run indefinitely
and constantly holds information for fastest lap for each driver,
plus race positions.
PS (Pit Strategy). This is used in conjunction
with the Pit Stop set, it will not operate without the Pitstop
Set installed. Racing is run as per GP mode, but a number of required
pitstops can be programmed in, for example a 5 minute race with
3 pitstops. In PS mode, a car is given a fuel allowance, which
reduces as the race progresses. Driving fast will use more fuel,
driving slower will use less fuel. When the system determines
that your tank is empty, your controller will vibrate and you
have to enter the pits to refuel, failure to make a pitstop will
reduce the power to your car. While stationary in the pits, your
fuel will refill and you can then rejoin the race. A very useful
feature is the ability to leave the pits after a ‘splash
& dash’ stop, by not waiting for a full tank.
AG (Arcade Group). An easy competition mode, this
will run a timed knockout competition between up to 8 drivers.
At each stage the slowest driver will be eliminated, and there
is a final race between the best two drivers.
AS (Arcade Single). This is an individual race
against the clock. Select the time or laps to be raced, and race
by yourself. At the end of your race, the console will reset with
a reduced time for you to try and beat. This will recur until
the point where you cannot beat the computer
